PracticeShadowing

How to start a movement Intermediate shadowing lesson

This is a short TED talk by Derek Sivers. He plays a video of one man dancing alone outdoors, then a first follower joins him and soon a whole crowd, and he shows that the first follower is what turns a lone dancer into a leader. He speaks clearly in short sentences, which suits intermediate shadowing.

Practise it in the app

Free, no account needed. The app plays one sentence and waits for you to say it.

The sentences

  1. Ladies and gentlemen, at TED we talk a lot about leadership and how to make a movement.

  2. So let's watch a movement happen, start to finish, in under three minutes and dissect some lessons from it.

  3. First, of course you know, a leader needs the guts to stand out and be ridiculed.

The video has 33 sentences. The rest are in the app. Practise them all

  3. After the first round, hide the text and practise from the sound alone.
